A tool to automate and simplify database change management, version control and deployment for Oracle databases.

At Earthly Software Ltd we are passionate about relational databases, but we are frustrated by how tedious and error prone it is to move code and structure changes between database environments.

We've developed Lure to automate and simplify database change management, version control and deployment for Oracle databases. Ultimately our goal with Lure is to improve the quality, accuracy and predictability of database code deployment.

lure-flow-1 Lure exports all database application code (DDL and PL/SQL) to source files on the file system.
lure-flow-2 Exported source files can be imported into a file based version control system like Subversion or Perforce.

Lure deploys exported source code to a target database. During deploy Lure:

  • installs only changes that have not previously been deployed
  • resolves all dependencies
  • installs all files in the correct order

Lure fully automates the deployment of your application source code from a version control system to a target database, regardless of whether the target schemas are empty or contain existing tables that need to be safely migrated:


Lure deploys changes to tables in an automated way but gives you full control over how these changes are achieved such that your data is correctly preserved/transformed. See Patch Deployment Strategy.
 

Platform Support

Lure can be installed and run on Windows XP, Vista, Windows 7 and also on Unix/Linux.

Lure requires Java 6 or higher to be installed.

No database/server-side installation or configuration is required.

License

Lure is free for non-commercial or private use.

For commercial use you have to buy a license online.

Alternatively a free 30 day trial period is available.
